SSI, SSDI beneficiaries invited to orientation
The Department of Labor and Industrial Relations Workforce Development Division Big Island Workplace Connection One-Stop Center is offering a program designed to provide Hawaii County’s SSI and SSDI beneficiaries information and instruction on how to get back to work. Counselors are available at the One-Stop to assist consumers with getting back into the workforce, job training and how best to improve their efforts for self-sufficiency in the workplace.
An orientation is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon Monday at the West Hawaii Civic Center, 74-5044 Ane Keohokalole Highway, Kailua-Kona. The orientation will explore work incentives available in the Ticket to Work Program established by the Social Security Administration that gives SSI and SSDI beneficiaries assistance to increase their income and to provide them with training opportunities.
Reservations are required as seating is limited so interested participants and direct service providers should contact Serrylee Kanakaole-Wong, Disability Resource coordinator of the Disability Employment Initiative, at 981-2860, ext. 231.
